Desktop App Problems
Troubleshoot issues with desktop app, including license and activation, connection and trial issues, and model or generation errors.
License Screens
- No License Found - This computer has no registered key yet. Sign in from the screen and choose the activation option. If you are offline, reconnect and try again.
- Free Trial Expired - Your seven days are up. Choose Upgrade & Download to buy a license, or open Account Settings and use the Unlock Full Application card. Your data is untouched.
- Device Key Revoked - This device was revoked from your account. Reactivate it here if you have a free device slot, or manage your devices in Account Settings.
- Validation Error - The stored key could not be verified. Choose Re-authenticate, and sign in again if you are asked to. Two more messages appear on the same No License Found screen rather than as screens of their own:
- Session expired - Sign in again, then retry activation. Sessions are refreshed automatically while you are online.
- Device limit reached - Your plan already covers as many devices as it allows. Revoke a device you no longer use from Account Settings, then activate this one.
Connection and Trial Problems
- The app will not open while on a trial - Trial validity is confirmed online, so an offline trial device is asked to reconnect. A paid license keeps working offline with no check at all.
- It says a trial has already been claimed - Each computer and each account can use one free trial. If you have used yours, purchasing a license is the way forward.
- You are stuck on the license screen - Account Settings stays reachable even when the app is waiting for a license, so you can always start a trial, buy one, or manage your devices.
Model and Generation Problems
- The selected model could not be loaded - Open Settings and look at Local AI Model size. Download the model again, or choose a smaller size if your computer is short on memory.
- A download stalls - Wait for the progress banner to move, then check your connection and free disk space. An interrupted download is discarded so the next attempt starts clean.
- A run finished with warnings - Some sections could not be written. Fix them with the chat assistant, or regenerate the whole document.
- Everything feels slow - Writing happens on your computer, so a smaller model in Settings, and closing other heavy applications, both help.
- A Fatal Application Error dialog appears - The app hit an unexpected internal error and closed itself. It shows the message it could not handle and then exits. Reopen the app and carry on - your profile, documents, and backups are stored separately and are not lost. If it keeps happening, send the message from the dialog, the app version from Settings under About, and what you were doing, through the support page.
Still stuck?
Send us the details from the support page, including the app version shown in Settings under About, the operating system, and what you were doing when the problem appeared. Support requests reach a person, and the more context you include, the faster we can help.
