Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 26, 2026

Abacaxi ("Abacaxi," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Abacaxi website, desktop application, browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

1. Our Privacy-First Approach

Abacaxi is built around the principle of data sovereignty. Our Services run AI models locally on your device using open-weight models. This means that, for core resume optimization and job-matching features, your documents and personal data are processed on your own computer and are not transmitted to our servers for AI processing.

This privacy-first design extends to the browser extension: when the extension reads a job listing or fills an application form, that data stays on your device and is sent only to the Abacaxi desktop app installed on your own computer — never to our servers or any third party.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials through our identity provider.
  • Payment Information: When you purchase credits or other paid features, payment details are collected and processed directly by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full payment card information.
  • Communications: If you contact us for support, we collect the content of your communications and any information you choose to provide.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data (website and online services only): Our website and online services may collect limited, aggregated technical data such as browser type, operating system, referring pages, and timestamps to operate and improve those services. The browser extension does not collect usage data, analytics, or tracking information.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use essential cookies and similar technologies on our website for authentication, security, and to remember your preferences.

Information That Stays on Your Device

  • Your Content: Resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, and other career documents you create are stored locally on your device inside an encrypted database and are not uploaded to our servers.
  • Local Model Data: AI inference is performed on your device's CPU or GPU, and the prompts and outputs associated with those local features are not transmitted to Abacaxi or any third-party AI service.
  • Browser Extension Data: When you use the browser extension, the job listing currently open in your browser — including its title, company, description, qualifications, salary, and application URL — may be read from the page you are viewing. Job listings and application forms can contain personal data (for example, your name, email address, or phone number may be entered into an application form when you use autofill). This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Services.
  • Authenticate your account and manage access.
  • Process transactions and deliver purchased features.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you.
  • Detect, prevent, and address security or technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. The Browser Extension

The browser extension pairs with the Abacaxi desktop app to help you read job listings and create applications. This section explains, in plain language, what the extension accesses and why.

What the extension reads

The extension only works with the page you are currently viewing, and only when you open the extension and choose to scan a listing, autofill a form, or generate an application. It reads the job listing's title, company, description, qualifications, salary, and application URL from that page.

Why the extension needs broad access

Job listings and application forms are published on many different websites — large job boards as well as company career sites — and you are free to use the extension on whichever sites you prefer. Because listings and forms can appear on any website, the extension must be able to view and interact with the page you have open, on any site you choose to use it on. It never browses sites on its own, reads pages you have not opened, or tracks your browsing history.

How the extension works

  • Viewing and filling pages: The extension can read the job listing and fill in application forms on the page you are viewing when you ask it to.
  • Reading page content for accurate results: To read a listing accurately, the extension may re-read the text of the page you are viewing.
  • Connecting to your desktop app: The extension communicates with the Abacaxi desktop app installed on your device through a secure, local messaging channel provided by your browser. This channel connects only the extension to your own desktop app on your own computer — it is not a network connection to us or to any third party.
  • Profile data for autofill: When you autofill a form, the contact information used (such as your name, email address, and phone number) comes from your profile in your own desktop app. The extension does not store your profile data.

Where the data goes

Everything the extension reads or fills stays on your device. The listing and any generated application are sent only to the Abacaxi desktop app on your computer through the local channel described above. No listing content, page content, or profile information is ever uploaded to our servers or shared with any third party. The extension performs no network requests and collects no analytics or tracking data.

Temporary storage

While you are working on a listing, a small amount of data is kept in temporary browser storage and is cleared when your browser session ends. Saved applications live in your desktop app, under your control.

5. How We Protect Information

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the information we process. For locally stored data, the desktop application encrypts your content at rest and manages encryption keys through your operating system's secure keychain (for example, macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or Linux Secret Service). Because the browser extension only communicates with your local desktop app and never transmits data over the network, listing and profile data are not exposed to transmission-based risks. No method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. How We Share Information

We do not share your personal information except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may share information with trusted third-party providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, authentication, hosting, and analytics for our website and online services, subject to appropriate safeguards. Data handled by the browser extension is not sent to these providers.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Abacaxi, our users, or others.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of the transaction.

7. Third-Party Services

The Services may integrate with third-party services, such as our payment processor and identity provider. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Content that is stored locally on your device remains under your control and may be deleted by you at any time. Listing data read by the browser extension is kept only in temporary browser storage and is automatically cleared when your browser session ends.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. You may also control certain data collection through your browser or device settings.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

11. International Data Transfers

Information we collect through our website and online services may be processed in countries other than the country in which you reside. Where applicable, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers in accordance with law. Data handled by the browser extension stays on your device and is not transferred internationally.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Services or by other means. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

13. Contact Us
